Sunday snooze....shopping....snooze

today we are offically back to just us. That means the two kids, my husband, and me. No more coordinating schedules for house walk throughs, furniture shopping (without me), and outside decor shopping and decorating (without me). I don't appreciate being left out, since, I am the one cleaning the stinkin' furtinure, cabinest, flower pots, etc, when said family is coming into town. I went from being respected to being left out withing about 4 days. I am I mad. YES! I am I mad that even though I should have probably gone to the emergancy room Friday night or Saturday, to see why my ovaries which are the only functioning part of my plumbing that was left after surgery two years ago in September 2010, I was made to feel like spoiled brat for trying to take care of my body and be here for a long while for my kids. Yes, this was my DH and mother in law just said I was under the weather..LIKE HELL i WAS UNDER THE WEATHER!!

My heart was not beating right, my breath was short and wheezy, and by lower pelvic region felt like a hurricane had hit with a tornando slamming right behind. They dragged me to eat out, they dragged me to see up, they dragged me to Target to by shoes for the kids, and they dragged me to go get ice cream (not to mention kept trying to force food down my throat when I kept telling them I didn't want anything but a doctor).

Needless, to say, tonight I will have a heart to heart with my husband. Needless to say, it won't be nice. There are some guide lines for the next visit.

Today is another baseball game, the only reason why we are going, is because the kids get a mascot soap dispenser. I may get us to leave early because I truly do not feel good and still have to go shopping for groceries.

These are the candy apples, I'd love to try at the ball park. Each apple costs about $7.00 with tax. My Dh won't buy one and let the family try it. He said we could get the ingridents and make our own. Expect I need some help with cooking instructions from someone who has done it before. So, if you know how to make carmel covered apples covered in m&ms or nuts, or a mixture of both, that would be great!

Sam, for God's sake - go to a doctor if you're not feeling well, please. Let DH take care of the kids for a few hours ... you need to take of yourself, too, not just them.

Those candy apples look yum-mo! I've never been brave enough to attempt caramel - worried it would either be too runny and not stick ... or end up too hard, like peanut brittle or something! LOL Good luck finding a recipe you can try at home.

I am with Kat... you need to put your foot down sometimes.

As far as the caramel apples... I love making caramels, but I think it's too much work for apples. They have these handy little caramel sheets you can buy in the grocery store. Seriously, though, by the time you buy all the ingredients and take the time, you're going to be out a whole lot more than $7.

Next time you're at the game, just splurge on one. (I prefer the white chocolate and caramel covered ones, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.)

Being a wife and mom is such hard work, and it's easy to feel like "the help" and not a member of the family.

Take care of yourself, Sam!! You are worth it!

15 small Red Delicious or Pink Lady apples, washed, dried
4 cups white sugar
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons red liquid food colouring
Method
Push a stick into each apple. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper. Place sugar and water into a heavy-based saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Stop stirring. Bring to the boil. Using a wet pastry brush, brush away sugar crystals on sides of saucepan above syrup. Stir in cream of tartar and food colouring.
Reduce heat to low. Simmer toffee for 20 minutes or until it reaches hard crack stage. To check if it has reached this stage, add 1 teaspoon of toffee to a glass of ice-cold water. Remove solidified toffee from water and bend it. The toffee should crack easily and not feel sticky. Once toffee is at this stage, remove from heat immediately.
Wait until toffee stops bubbling then dip 1 apple into toffee. Tip pan on an angle to coat apple in toffee, especially around stick. Place onto prepared baking tray. Repeat with remaining apples. Allow to set at room temperature.
Be careful you do not burn yourself!~
